Stay
And so I'm back once again after one of my trademark long absences. I guess my profligacy can be attributed to my lack of anything interesting to write coupled with the general laziness associated with knowing how much work goes into typing a blog entry. Perhaps I should get one of those narration softwares to make it easier for me to commit my thoughts to paper. Haha.
As the hour grows late with regard to this month, I can't help but get into the festive side of things. This is really one of my most favourite times of the year simply cos its when the chaos associated with daily life tends to take a backseat so that we can eat, drink, meet and make merry. Its also a time to reflect on the course of the year and whether it was a gd one or not. And considering the unfortunate pple out there who are fighting tooth and nail just to get by on a daily basis, I feel that I have alot to be thankful with regard to my current position.
I'm glad that I've cleared the army hurdle, although there is still the reservist issue to contend with. But I'm glad that I'm able to continue with the next logical step in life and I kinda can't wait for it. Its gonna take a while before that time comes, but I'm pretty much psyched abt it cos its a whole different situation to contend with. At least adaptability will not play as big a part as back in 2005 though, cos the familiarity is certainly there.
The one gd thing abt this is that I can now go abt doing wat I want without having to deal with those pesky annoyances which have plagued us all of late. In a way, the endgame was kinda expected and I'm glad that it arrived sooner rather than later. It saves us all from dealing with a whole lot of grief and having to put up with further inconveniences. I mean, we all have our limits and when those limits are crossed, we tend to act or react to the situation. Whether said reaction is proactive or adverse remains to be seen.
I frankly can't wait for the 12th of Dec to get here cos its ZoukOut once again!! Wooohooo!! Haha. Considering the lineup over the last 2 years, this year is kinda disappointing cos Armin is the only one who most of us would recognise. But I guess that we just might end up bein surprised so why not go for the ride aye? Besides, its a once a year thing so theres bound to be other things goin on there apart from the music. And it never fails to draw a crowd too.
Well, thats abt it for now. Until the next post, have a great week ahead!!
P.S. 2012 is a bloody gd disaster movie. Blows The Day After Tomorrow right out of the water. xD

Scardonia
Ok this post is abt 17 days overdue so my apologies. Last 3 odd weeks have been interesting but I did promise a review for wat was potentially the best weekend I had after my 21st.
I finally got over the loss of my beloved N95 and decided that the time was right to head out and invest in a brand new N97. So I headed to Starhub and got one while recontracting my dad's line at the same time. It was originally retailing at $538 but due to the $200 voucher my dad had, I only ended up paying $338 for it. One of the best deals I've ever encountered xD
The following day was the 27th and I was supposed to meet Tuck Min and Elton so that we could go watch a movie. We decided to go for Phobia 2 due to the distinct lack of anything interesting and kinda regretted it. The movie was kinda screwed up, although the last story in the set of 5 short ones was rather funny and had us in stitches.
After the movie ended, my dad called me and informed me that my uncle had managed to acquire a Pit Grandstand ticket for the F1 race that was to take place that very nite. He asked me whether I wanted to go and naturally I sed yes. So I met up with my cousin at Marina Square to collect the ticket before headin to the area.
Once I got there, I immersed myself in the pre-race formalities while grabbin a quick but rather expensive dinner along the way. As it got closer to race time, I realised that I didn't have any earplugs on me and so decided to go get a pair. Thank God there was a booth fairly near to the grandstand so I didn't have to travel that far. After acquiring the earplugs, I headed back to my seat and waited. By that time, the grandstand was rather packed so we were all waiting in anticipation.
And finally, it was time to get the race started and the drivers proceeded with a practice lap for the fans before headin back to the grid for the official start of the race, which started a few mins later. It was a rather eventful race that included crashes, collisions, mishaps and burnt rubber. But in the end, it was Lewis Hamilton who stole the show with his well planned and executed driving strategy. Kudos to him as well as Sebastien Vettel for making it an interesting race.
After the race ended, it was time to take the long walk back towards the open roads so as to try and get a cab. And that in itself turned out to be a nightmare. After abt an hour of waiting for a cab and 3 failed calls to cab companies, I managed to get one and got home abt 10 mins before midnite. I had work the next day to didn't really waste any time.
Jacob returned to Singapore the following Friday and so I went to meet up with him. He was at Orchard Galleria Hotel with his bro, mum and two of her frends. After a while, we decided to head to a bar to get some drinks and so we went across the road to Harry's but the place was bloody crowded. We then decided to go for a low profile option and headed back across the street to Ballymoons instead. Tried one of the beers there and it was rather gd, but I decided to keep it at one so didn't drink after that. We left the place at ard 1am and I headed back home.
The rest of the week went by rather fast and without event until the following Wed, which was when Jacob and I were supposed to head to Butter Factory for some gd old clubbin. Prior to that nite, the last time I had actually set foot in a club was the 10th of June, and it was also at Butter. Lolx. We met up with some of Jacob's frends, including two girls who I had studied with when I was at Ghim Moh. Was kinda nice to catch up with em and we had a gd time.
Also saw Vernon and his gf there so I spoke to him for a while as well. As it was free flow from 10pm to 1am, we paid the $28 cover charge and basically went crazy. In that 3 hour period, we had abt 10 drinks and the best part was that we were still sober after that. We were basically traversing between both Bump and Fash thru the nite but we eventually decided on Fash as it was the less crowded of the two and they were playin some sick tracks as well.
I was initially supposed to leave at 2.30am due to the fact that I had work the next day, but in the end decided to stick with the rest until closing time at 4am. After that, Jacob and I headed to Spize for supper/breakfast before sharin a cab back to our respective places. All in all, it was a gd nite and it was nice to club again after a rather long period of time.
After that, it was basically work the rest of the way so nuthin of interest happened until the Friday that just passed. Decided to head to Howl at the Moon with some of the old crowd and so asked em along. But Kee Siang had to give tuition and both Freddy and Kuma were not free so in the end it was only Elton, Eric and I who turned up. However, it was still gd fun and we had a rockin gd time, especially since the band were particularly raucous that nite. We decided to leave at ard 11pm cos we wanted to get the last train home so the nite ended early. But that was a blessing I guess cos the next day was Deepavali.
Woke up early on Sat morning and we headed to my cousin's hse in Yishun for breakfast. After that, we went to get some stuff done before headin back home to rest before headin out again in the evening. Went to my Aunty Shai's plc in the evening and spent some time there before taking our leave and heading to my other aunty's place to continue the visits.
The latter visit was the longer of the two as we spent abt 6 hrs there. A multitude of food, drink, jokes and blackjack ensued and by the time we decided to call it a nite, it was already 3am. All in all, it was a very very gd nite and probably one of the best Deepavali celebrations that I have encountered in a very long time.
And finally we get to today, which is when I headed to Kuma's plc to celebrate Deepavali as well. Had a rather gd time there and there was some gd banter running back and forth so it was a lively experience to say the least. Really had a gd time there. After that, I went back home to meet with my folks and we then went out to settle some other things. And that abt sums up the last 3 weeks or so. Lolx.
Well, thats abt it for now. Until the next post, have a great week ahead!! xD

A Whisper to Nothing
I wanna blog abt the great weekend I had, but I shall save that for tmr cos its gettin late and I gotta work tmr.
Either way, I just wanna say sumthin for the sake of saying it.
If at the end of it all, wat I have envisioned does come to pass, then so be it.
I will leave the decision to be made by another so that I can truly say that I have been liberated from any guilt I would have felt if it was I who was making the decision in the first place.
This is wat life is all abt I guess. xD

My Two Cents Worth.
You asked me sometime back whether I felt awkward and I sed no.
Let it be known that I wasn't lying.
And when u told me that u did, I didn't really give a fuck.
The fact remains that had u asked that very same question a year ago, I probably woulda said yes.
And you woulda been in the exact same position as I am now.
Talk abt how fast things change. Wat a difference a year makes indeed. Hah.

Flipside
The last two posts have had a real dark vibe abt em and I guess that it was cos I was in a rather bad mood for some time now due to one reason or another. But I think the mood has passed and things are lookin up once again, so I am thankful for that.
Work has just entered an impt stage and the next month or so is gonna be crucial in terms of wat we're tryin to achieve in the company. I wun elaborate cos there is no reason to do so. But lets just say that when I noe, I'll think abt posting it up here. Heh.
Before I fully depart from the sphere of bile that encapsulated the last 2 posts, just one final note. No one likes to be lectured, no matter wat the context. Some of it may be justified, yet most of it can be written off as just plain filler by pple who have nuthin better to say. I experienced that last week and it pissed me off to no end, so much so that it still rankles me when I think abt it. The best part is that this happens on a regular basis with regard to some pple. If u have nuthin nice to say, just shut the fuck up. And if ur reading this post, bear in mind that I will not take anymore nonsense and if u were to cross the line just one more time, there's gonna be hell to pay.
Ok, I'm done with the ranting and the vitriol. Lets move on to more fun things aye? Haha. Fringe Season 2 premiered on Friday afternoon here and I managed to get a copy of it. After watching it, I guess I can safely say that Season 2 just might trump all that Season 1 has achieved. The storyline is one that is not just restricted to that episode but will be the backstory for most of this new season I reckon. I will not reveal any spoilers cos I'd rather u watch it for urself.
Supernatural Season 5 is also proving to be a big draw, simply cos the storyline for this season is the culmination of wat the previous 4 seasons have been working towards. The producers have hinted that this might be the last season and so I reckon they might just go out with a bang if that is true. Either way, it would be sad to see such a gd tv series end, but it has to happen I guess.
The same can be sed for LOST, which will be airing its 6th and final season next Feb. The producers have always intended for the series to last 6 seasons and at this point of time they have no intention of extending the storyline any further cos it would only serve to cheapen wat the series has worked towards in the previous 5 seasons. When its over, lets just say that it'll be a sad day for most LOST fans.
But, all is not lost. For there is a new series from the creators of LOST that is scheduled to premiere next Friday afternoon. It incorporates some elements of LOST as well as some actors from the series and is naturally called Flash Forward. For those who have not had a chance to view the trailer, go look it up on YouTube cos I reckon ur gonna be in for a treat. From wat we can see in the trailer and subsequent promos, it looks like its gonna be the TV event of the year. Can't wait for it to kick off. Haha.
Another new TV series that looks rather interesting is Persons Unknown. The trailer can be viewed at http://www.personsunknown.com so make ur way there to check it out and make ur own deductions. Not sure when its premiering as yet, but I'll be keepin an eye out for it.
Tonight they'll be showin a highly anticipated match between Manchester United and Manchester City, which will be live from Old Trafford at 8.30pm. Both sides are fierce rivals and alot is expected from this match. Its basically the status quo vs the rich new pretenders to the crown. This match is still looked at as a United win, even though City are in better form at the moment. However, one could argue that derby matches rarely follow the form book so I'm gonna stick to that. In this sense, as much as I'd like to see United win, I'm gonna be conservative and go for a score draw.
Apart from all things related to TV, life in general has been fine. Managed to step out of the hse to enjoy the weekend when Kee Siang, Freddy and I headed to Howl At The Moon last nite for some drinks and music. Was fun to hang out with em, considering that we hadn't done so since the ORD party. We stayed till ard 11.30pm then decided to head back home. Kee Siang and I were on the train when we were surprised to find out that Junjie was there as well. After sayin bye to Kee Siang, Junjie and I headed to catch the East West Line that was headin to Buona Vista.
I got off there and then walked back home from the station, so much so that by the time I got back, it was ard 12.30am. All in all, it was a fun nite and I really enjoyed it. The general consensus is that this shld happen more often, and I sure as hell hope that it does. Haha.
Well, thats all for now. But before I go, just wanna give a shoutout to Erich. Happy 21st Birthday mate!!
Until the next post, have a gd one. xD

No Regrets.
Sometimes the mind races to find answers to questions that the heart is meant to answer. We've all come across this situation before so its nuthin new. Call it watever u want, but its something we have definitely encountered.
As the title of this blog post suggests, I have absolutely no regrets over my outburst in the previous post. That post was the culmination of some deep and serious thought that I had put forward in the days beforehand. I guess its a by-product of the human condition that such a thing like that can happen. But then again, thats life isn't it?
But if u really think abt it, the topic discussed in the previous post is not an isolated thing. If u take into account the so called "Domino Effect" of such a situation, the repercussions that u encounter will definitely be far reaching to say the least.
As for me, I've reached the end of my tether with regard to this particular situation. It has come to the point where I just dun give a flying fuck anymore. When u let things get out of hand, it tends to put one hell of a dampener on ur mood. Oh well, never again I guess.
But let it be known that the anger that was expressed in so many words during the previous post was not unfounded. If so, I woulda said that it was all a joke and laughed abt it by now. So I guess this is the part where I confirm that I'm being dead serious abt this. So here it is: I am dead serious abt this.
The general reason why all this bullshit occurs can usually be attributed to "politics". I'm not talkin abt the actual political situation, but abt the one that everyone goes thru during their lives. This perceived "politics" is a by-product of a society thats ruled by a dysfunctional hierarchy that is the very personification of the word flawed.
U have ur pretenders, the wannabes who change from normal pple to these fake bastards who just want a piece of the action. And the worst part abt this is that they actually believe in this "transformation". How pathetic.
Then u have ur "overlords". These pple attributed their ascension to "power" due to the support of the cynics and bottom feeders who crave a piece of the action and try to get some by jumping on the bandwagon like mindless idiots with no direction whatsoever in life.
And finally, u have the "converts". These pple are indoctrinated in the bullshit thats cultivated by the aforementioned groups and believe in it so much that they are pretty much converted into wat they believe. In this case, the blind have truly been led by the stupid, thus becoming one with them.
When u consider that those who are not part of any of the 3 categories are then ostracised and used as cannon fodder by em, u tend to wonder wat the catalyst for this "revolution" was in the first place. Sometimes, it may be something trivial, but in other cases its almost always something much more substantial.
If u apply this literally to ur life experiences, those of u who have been taken for a ride by those who u once called friends but have now embraced one of the 3 categories mentioned above know wat I mean. It sickens me to know that pple can be so blinded by wat they perceive to be ambition that they are willing to forsake almost anything to attain that alleged fame.
I suppose I might feel sorry for these pple. But in a way its more of a fleeting thing than a sustained emotion. In this day and age, trust counts for alot and more often that not, when u break that trust ur never gonna get it back.
So my question to u is this:
Are you gonna conform or are you gonna break away from the stereotype?
I'll leave it to u to decide.
P.S. Friends NEVER forget.

Interpretation.
As I sit here typing this post, I'm thinkin abt the friendships that one makes in a lifetime and wat they constitute. For those who know me well, they would know that I'm sumone who places a fair bit of importance and emphasis on trust being present in a friendship, cos without trust there is nuthin but a perceived void in which mistrust reigns supreme. It may never manifest in the course of a friendship, but the underlying problem is still there.
I admit that I have made and lost friends along the way and for various reasons. Some of it were cos of my actions while others were due to the inherent actions of others. This has happened a fair few times and to be honest it has made me that much more vigilant and careful as to who I consider as a friend. This perceived vigilance also tends to keep me on my toes as it allows me to sorta evaluate the status of a situation if I need to make a decision.
But once in a while, life throws u a curveball that tends to plant seeds of doubt with regard to the vigilance that one exhibits. Its really weird cos sometimes things just happen for no damn reason at all. Its as if the universe collaborates with several elements on opposite sides of the spectrum just to see wat happens to someone who is presented with a particular situation.
Take this scenario for an example: You're friends with someone who is damn close to u, so much so that u consider em to be more like a sibling than others. And even after a period of time in which both of u have gone on to other things, u still keep in touch with said friend. However, one day u realise that the correspondence decreases until its non-existant. U try to make small talk, just to see if everythin is aite. But the level of reciprocation remains the same. This goes on for a while until one day u've had enuff and just cut em off.
Now the scenario above is common and I bet that it has happened to most of us in our lifetime. Depending on wat ur point of view is, u either allow it to fester or u let it go. Sure ur pissed, but u dun see the need to let things escalate so u just let it go. That seems like the sensible thing to do I reckon. But wait, here's the kicker.
After wat seems to be a fair bit of time, which could mean anywhere between a few weeks or even years, the person that u once called friend suddenly makes contact and asks the one question that makes all that anger and even animosity to come flooding back: "Hey!! Its been ages since I heard from you!! How have u been??".
Now I admit that the example listed above is just one of many possible questions posed, but it seems to be the most common. It has happened to me before, but at that point of time I had realised that it was not worth goin thru the entire gauntlet of emotions once again and so I did the most sensible thing I could. I didn't give a fuck. I didn't bother replying. Simple as that. I've moved on, and I did so without your help. So wat makes u think that I need ur fuckin presence now?
Some pple may say its being petty and that its only causing more grief in the long run, but those are the pple who haven't been in such a situation before. Hell, they could even be the one playing the role of the aforementioned "said friend". My attitude towards these kind of pple is that I simply can't be fucked to give em the time of day. Its always been that way so why bother changing now aye? Its not as if changing this long held stance would makes things any better. In fact it has every chance of making things WORSE.
I've been ard for slightly more than 21 years and have to admit that I have been thru my fair share of such situations. Over the years I guess I've become battle-hardened and simply apathetic to such behaviour. The backstabbers are bad enuff, but these kinda bastards are worse. They share so many characteristics with the creature that personifies em best, the snake.
I've had the privilege of havin some great friends in my life so far and am eternally grateful that I met these pple. God tells us to forgive and forget and live life as was intended. Sometimes one is easier to pull off than the other, but eventually most of us get ard to doing so. This "release of grief" is usually taken to be the ideal way forward in life. I reckon that its a gd philosophy to adhere to.
Well, if ur still here at the end of this post, thank u for putting up with me. Besides, its Friday. We should all be out somewhere havin a great time I reckon.
Until the next post, have a great weekend. xD

Difference
Well, I've started work already. Workin for my dad and another business partner at International Business Park. Where exactly is irrelevant as I reckon thats leaning towards need to know info so unless ur a serious client, dun bother askin.
Last 2 weeks have been basically uneventful, with the exception of the previous Friday and the weekend that followed. My folks went to visit my sis in Melbourne and were scheduled to leave at 10.15pm on Friday nite via Emirates, which was the same flight that I had taken almost exactly 2 months before. Earlier in the day, I had entered a contest to see if I could win 2 free tickets to a stand up comedy double header at Howl At The Moon, which was to take place that nite itself.
Unfortunately, I was unable to check if I had won until I had returned home as Hotmail chose that precise moment to go thru a non-responsive phase. So by da time I had a chance to check the results, it was 7pm. And the show was supposed to start at 8pm. Sure enuff, I saw da email sayin that I had indeed won the two free tickets, which meant that I had to find someone to bring along. The gd thing was that Edmund was free after work so he agreed to join me for the show.
I was late to meet him as I had to send my folks off before leavin myself. They had told me that there was no need to follow em to the airport due to the inherent lack of transportation. I met Edmund at Orchard Emerald at ard 8.30pm and we proceeded to the venue to watch the show. It was a gd performance from two solid stand up comedians and I really enjoyed myself. We left the place at ard 10.30pm and headed back as it was gettin late and I had an appointment with Weihan and Eric the following day. But Edmund was droppin by the next day to watch the Man Utd vs Arsenal match at my plc so that was a gd thing.
Met Eric at Jurong East station at 12.45pm the next day and we then headed to Bishan to meet up with Weihan before headin for lunch. The initial idea was to head to a Japanese restaurant at LinkBridge Hotel, but after some wild navigation from the three of us we decided to instead head for Central for lunch. Once we got there, we headed to a Korean restaurant for lunch. The food there was rather gd and we had a gd time catching up before headin our separate ways.
I then headed to Cold Storage at Holland Village to get some chips and soft drinks for the nite's festivities. Got confirmation from Guyson and Kee Siang that they couldn't make it for the match and so that left Edmund, Kuma, Tuck Min and I. I chilled at home and waited for the rest to arrive. Edmund was the first to arrive and we were exchanging movies and tv series as we watched the Bolton vs Liverpool match. Tuck Min and Kuma arrived at close to midnite, which was gd timing as the match was abt to start.
The first half was an open affair with both sides attacking, although Arsenal got a gd hold on the match and were the dominant force as the match progressed. And it was inevitable that they opened the scoring thru Arshavin, who had a gd shot at goal and took it well. 1-0 to Arsenal at half time. Second half and Man Utd began to raise their game and were rightfully awarded a penalty after Almunia brought Rooney down in the box. I have to admit that Rooney milked the chance a bit but I reckon anyone else woulda done the same thing. Rooney then stepped up to slot the resulting penalty and equalise.
And then came the weirdest moment of the match. A ball flighted into the Arsenal area was gotten to by Abou Diaby via a header. I wonder if it was an accident or did he really mean to aim it that way, cos instead of heading the ball clear, he headed it straight into his own net. We had taken the lead thanks to an own goal from an Arsenal player. 2-1 to United.
As the match progressed, we continued to battle against an increasingly resurgent Arsenal and were surprised with the 5 mins of injury time awarded by the referee Mike Dean. Sure enuff, Arsenal did put the ball in the net in the dying seconds, but it was rightly ruled out for offside. Then came the fireworks as Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger took aim at a water bottle in the technical area and kicked it across the pitch. The fourth official then spoke to the referee, who then sent him off. With 30 seconds left I might add. This caused even more farce as there was no place for him to sit and so he stood at the grandstand above the tunnel with his arms outsretched.
Now as a Man Utd fan, I am fiercely protective over the club and the way things are done. But I for one feel that Wenger was hard done by and that he shouldn't have been sent off cos it was such a minor incident and did not warrant such harsh action. And this view was vindicated days later when referee manager Keith Hackett informed Wenger that he will receive an apology and most likely have the red card rescinded. For the record, the clock went on for 2 further minutes after that before the match was mercifully brought to an end. The final score was: Manchester United 2-1 Arsenal FC.
After the match, we were muckin abt with the computer before Kuma suggested(insisted more like haha) that we head down to get some supper. Unfortunately there was nuthin open at Holland Village at that point of time so we headed to 7-11 to get watever we could. I settled on a sandwich while the rest got various other types of food. After that, we headed back to my plc to chill. Tuck Min had to leave at 6.30am so he was watchin a movie while the rest of us went to sleep. I woke up at 6.30am to send him off before headin back to sleep till 9.30am. Kuma was the next to leave before Edmund made a move as I had to get ready for church.
Went for the 11.30am mass before makin my way back home in the rain. The rest of the day and in fact the days that followed were uneventful as I was workin in the absence of my dad at the office so that kept me occupied. And so here we are. Got work tmr and Friday, although am intending to leave early on Friday so that I can go check out the Army Open House at camp.
Well, thats abt it for now. Until the next post, have a gd one!! xD

Mute Math - Armistice [Album Review]

Armistice is the 2nd full length album from rockers Mute Math, who are from New Orleans. With the success of their self-titled debut album, this album has been highly anticipated in most areas, especially since they announced that the album would deviate from the style of the first album so that they could really showcase their musical talents. This they have done to a sublime level.
This album is a top notch effort that complements and may even end up trumping the debut album in terms of its musicmanship and overall quality. The songs here are catchy to say the least and would please most, if not all fans of the band.
In my personal opinion, The Nerve wasn't a track that I adored when I listened to it initially, but after a few listens I guess it has started to grow on me. The same can be said for the last official track, Burden. Burden is a monster track thats 9 mins and 5 seconds in length, but in that time, they manage to incorporate most of their signature styles so as to ensure that the album ends with a bang.
The stand out tracks from this album, apart from the ubiquitous Spotlight, have to be Clipping, Electrify and the title track, Armistice. All 3 tracks have a real gd vibe flowin thru em and will definitely have listeners hittin Repeat so that they can have another round of it.
I can honestly say that this album is one of the favourites of 2009 and will almost definitely end up being one of my all time favourites as well. If I were to take the impact the first album had on me, I would say that my proclamation will be vindicated.
Band Name: Mute Math [a.k.a MUTEMATH & MuteMath]
Name of Album: Armistice
Tracks: 12, not including bonus tracks.
Standout Tracks: Clipping, Spotlight, Electrify, Armistice.
My Favourite Track: Clipping.
Verdict: All I can say is, go download this album if ur lookin for somethin different to listen to. Its a seriously gd album that has some great tracks. And while ur at it, go download the debut album as well. U'll definitely not be disappointed. xD

Penang [And Other Things]
Went to Penang the previous weekend as my folks wanted to visit the St Anne's Church at Georgetown. They had made a vow to return when we were last there abt 4 years back so we decided that this was a gd time to go. 3 of my cousins as well as one of our family friends travelled with us for the trip.
We left at ard 3pm of the 7th of August via Jetstar and reached Penang abt 1.5 hrs after that. The fact that we had to queue at a counter to get a receipt which then allowed us to queue in another line for the cab was one that made no sense, but it was a necessary evil. We were "lucky" to be ferried to the hotel by a Proton Wira, which was the "ultimate thrill". Lolx.
Once we reached the hotel, we got the keys to the rooms and proceeded upstairs to chill. After a while, we all congregated at the lobby so that we could proceed for dinner followed by some walkin ard the pasar malam. The gd thing abt the pasar malams in Penang is that u can get gd quality items for a cheap price.
After dinner at one of the food centres at the edge of the pasar malam, we headed to the shops to have a gd look for stuff. Managed to pick up some nice t-shirts as well as some other stuff. Also managed to get an awesome watch there, which was my main objective.
We then headed back to the hotel for some sleep cos the next day was gonna be busy. We woke up the next day and met at the other room for breakfast before headin to the lobby, where we had chartered a van so that we could do some sightseeing ard Penang. Our intention was to head to Penang Hill so that we could venture up to the summit, but when we got there, we realised that there was a 2.5 hour wait before we could get a chance to do that and so we abandoned the idea. Throughout the trip, this incident became the butt of jokes.
We then decided to head for lunch in town before lookin ard the shops at the departmental store for anything that was worth buying. After abt 2 hrs, we headed back to the hotel so that we could rest up and head to the beach in the late afternoon. We met up again in the lobby and headed to the beach so that we could chill. After some time there, we realised that it was gonna rain and so headed back. Later in the evening, my mum and the rest headed back for more shopping at the pasar malam while my dad and I headed to the Shangri La Resort's bar for some drinks. After that, we headed back and waited for the rest to return.
The next day we woke up rather early as we had to get ready for mass at St Anne's Church, which was abt an hour away by van. We left the hotel at ard 6.45am and reached the church abt an hour later. After the mass, we walked ard the church and bought some stuff as well as took some nice pictures. We then headed for some lunch in the township area before headin back to the hotel. We changed out and then decided to head to the beach, which was a decision that I wish we hadn't made.
While at the beach, a series of events led to me gettin my mobile phone drenched and although I tried my best to dry it out as much as possible, I had a sinking feeling that it might not have been enuff. The rest of the day passed slowly and soon it was time to pack as we were supposed to leave for the airport early the next morning.
We once again congregated at my parents room and I tried to switch on my mobile once again in the hope that it might have dried out sufficiently. However, my hopes were dashed as I realised that there still was water in the screen. So much for trying eh.
We reached the airport and after completing check-in, we went to get some breakfast before shopping for some stuff to tide us over for the short flight back to Singapore. The flight itself was hilarious due to a different series of events and by the time we reached Singapore it was ard 10.30am.
After that, we all went our separate ways and we headed home to get some rest. Met up with Edmund and Ervin the next day so that we could walk ard Ion Orchard as well as go watch GI Joe. In hindsight, I thought that it was a gd movie and the action was of a gd standard and I definitely enjoyed it. Ion was huge and was kinda nice, but at the end of the day I just wanted to get home and rest.
Spent the rest of the week watchin season 2 of NCIS and then followed my folks to church on Friday evening for the Assumption mass. Went to watch District 9 with Chris and Elton the following afternoon. I thought the plot was kinda dumb, but at least the action kinda made up for the price of admission. After that we walked ard Plaza Sing until it was time to go our separate ways.
Even though this week was one characterised by loss, there were important gains as well, although I shall comment on that until a more opportunistic time. Heh.
Well, thats all for now. Until the next post, have a gd one!! xD
